Hotsprings for Halloween

So while this blog is mainly business, from time to time I'll post personal things, especially if it falls within the catagory "why I live here". So for halloween I escaped Ketchum and took the van on a hotsprings road trip. It was cold and nasty weather - PERFECT for hotsprings. The colder it is outside, the sweeter the gift from the earth. Truely remarkable that warm water bubbles up from below - it's free - and people before me have worked very hard making tubs and moving rocks. Thank you whoever you are. We started with a little dip in the Boat Box near Stanely before heading up Slate Creek for an evening soak, camping, and a morning soak before heading to the gem - Gold Bug Hotsprings.

Slate Creek
Darrin needs more coffee, but I seem to be wired for already being wired

Here's my wedding segue.... leftover from over a year ago, these little champagne splits from Joe and Michelle's wedding, made it even that much more decadent. Thanks, Michelle - and cheers to you guys!!
The gem of the trip was Goldbug - halfway between Challis and Salmon - and requires a 4 mile round trip hike. Totally worth it for this little slice of nirvana.

A hot waterfall?! and a pool that looks out over the valley. Are you kidding me?

In these bleak economic times, sometimes it's good to step back, and relish in all the wonderful things that this planet offers - for free. Pack a picnic - where would you like to go?
