New add for Sun Valley Center for the Arts

I did some portraits of Ben Parker for the Sun Valley Center for the Arts' new add. Look out world, this kid is creating some kick-ass videos of snowboarding and skateboarding...

I love the layout by my good friend and designer extraordinaire Britt Johnston, and her company Nimbus Creative Group. She is so great to work with I hire her for all my personal design work, too (and have for the last 18 years!!) The latest was an accordion editorial/travel promo piece. I really love her use of negative space. Like music, it's the spaces between the notes that give it a feeling.

Thanks, Britt!

Party at Photos Do Not Bend Studio and Gallery

a slideshow from those that ventured into the photobooth......

I had a party at the gallery/studio to kick off 'half price December'. I wanted to give all my friends first dibs. Thought I'd serve some martinis and step it up a notch. A lot of these prints are printed by hand in the darkroom. They don't make them like this anymore. A dying art? I hope there will always be people out there that appreciate the beauty and tonal range of a fine art silver gelatin print.

Look at the flowers Sue Bridgman did for the event. Wow. When they delivered it that day, I loved it so much I couldn't stop staring at it. Everybody loves flowers - that's easy -her team does an amazing job with the DESIGN. outstanding!

some of the art that went to a good home.....

dunes of Namibia - gelatin silver print

weeeeee - Boise State Fair - gelatin silver print

Christmas Cards and Beyond

Just in time for christmas cards, I went to Lori's home to get some portraits of her family, kids, and of course, dogs. It's so great to watch families grow - I photographed them two years ago in the snow as well, and those are still some of my favorites. The lighting was nice and soft that day, and how great is their backyard?!

Cats and Horses are family, too

I assured Heather that it was not unusual to squeeze three fluffy persians and a horse into the family christmas card. Heck, I've shot the Mystic Family with 4 dogs and a horse all at once!
But it does help having really gorgeous clients - team effort on this one. And her kids were exceptionally curteous & respectful - so good to see. Good job mom!! Heather is helping open the cool new restaurant in town, Sego, that everyone is buzzing about. The food comes directly from local farmers and I can't wait for the deck in the summer!!

Senior Portraits

We thought about chickening out and going for the studio, but Kerry Lee really wanted the outside look. So we put gobs of handwarmers in pockets and braved below zero temps. She's not much of a 'snow' person, so we dressed in bright colors and played around the barn. What a trooper! - and so cute - made my job easy!

Mom and sis jump in..

on the way back to the car - I didn't have the heart (guts?) to have them take their coats off again - but still cute with the mountains in the background

Thanksgiving at Chris & DJ's cabin

My favorite holiday of the year is Thanksgiving. What's not to love about hanging out with friends eating and drinking, and being grateful. We were lucky enough to be invited to Chris and DJ's cabin with a bunch of other lucky friends. We each brought something to share, and a lot of wine, and a lot of laughs.

Tiny little rustic cabin with a million dollar view of the Boulders.

Darrin, Mac, Chris, Cheryl, Matt, DJ, & JC, and Marty?(not pictured)

cute and rustic means it has no running water. This is my photography segue... wait for it.. wait for it... behold the famous outhouse. I'm so honored that my photography promo piece made the wall.....

Mac's pies waiting patiently. Oh, that's me waiting patiently.

any bit of snow can be made into a chin rest... dogs are family around here, too

appetizers and drinks on the front lawn

you can always add to the list!

I love guys in the kitchen. It takes a village.

They actually have a record player with some vintage vinyl. Taj Mahal, Cat Stevens, Grateful Dead (of course), Buddy Guy, old U2, Yes, Earth Wind & Fire, Robert Palmer, Coltrane, and some more etc.

Ah, triptathane high with a Mac's CRAZYPIE sugar rush chaser.
Stick a fork in all of us, we're done.
Thanks DJ and Chris! Oh we are so ever grateful!
