LifePortraits at Double Helix Ranch in May, Idaho (in June)

So WAY out in May, Idaho (uh, that's past Challis and Ellis then take a right on a farm road for another 16 miles, then a dirt road for another mile or so), is a house that doesn't look like the others, called Double Helix Ranch. Owned by the super nice Jim and Karen Posada -he's a wiz at biotech - and thus the name. They wanted me to come out and do some lifestyle portraits of them and all things dear to them, Katie the dog, and as many cats as I could lure into camera range, as well as some portraits of the house.  They don't have kids, but the house is kind of like their baby - a labor of love over many years picking the spot and building it with the architectural help of Derik Ryan.

I drove out there in my VW Westfalia van for the evening light, then slept in my van (oh the stars!) and caught the morning light for some more pics. Before leaving, they treated me to breakfast at the Giddy Up cafe, to catch up on all the latest gossip. I love my job  ; )

Jennifer & Eric's coffee table book

Here was Jennifer and Erics backyard wedding.
Their dogs were like family,
and the horses joined in, too.

Expand the book to full screen
and flip through the pages
just like a book.

Jennifer - let me know if we need to delete or change
some photos before we publish it.

Jennifer & Eric (and their dogs and some horses!)...

Ok, I LOVE backyard weddings. Jennifer and Eric got married at his parents house out East Fork. The storms danced around us, and their children (dogs) were a huge part of the wedding....Everything looked great (nice job on the flowers Taylor!) and ran smoothly (and was fun!) because of Amy from Taylor'd Events. Thanks Amy!

Jen with Speedy..

very cool! A donation was made to Habitat for Humanity in the name of each guest (a friend of the bride and groom is heavily involved in that great charity).

Alexander all dressed up and waiting for the guests to arrive

the groom (with Henry) greets the guests

we had a little rain, a little clouds, and a little sun

Judith McQueen Entertaining outdid herself with an amazing 5 course dinner - all created from inside the horse barn! Fabulous!!

the storm slithered by and created some amazing light

individual chocolate cake for everybody, and who needs a fork?

Eric's favorite band from his college days in Missoula played (and were awesome!)

Jen & Eric - congratulations! I wish you well as you set out on your new adventures in life together (with your doggies) in Seattle! Knock 'em dead!
